Alcohol Test – Breathalyser

AlcoScan AL7000

Trust is hard earned for a family emerging from months and years fear and doubt attached to a loved ones drinking. Alcoholism is often referred to as “the lying disease”.

Recovery boundaries are there to protect the family from fear and doubt, therefore having a relaxed and open approach to regular random breath tests protect all.

Alcoholics in early recovery know that relapse is all to often part of the process. Aversion methods, any last thought that prevents them picking up the first drink is helpful. Knowing that they can and will be tested is often the thought that saves them from the first drink, the first of many.

At RedChair we use the AlcoScan AL7000 to test clients for evidence of alcohol use.

The breathalyser is fast and easy to use. It is sold around the world with a reputation for quality, accuracy, ease of use,  and  value for money.

The systems tests for the BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) level. A reading of .08% is the legal Drink Drive limit in the UK

RedChair’s therapy programmes are invariably abstinence based and therefore groups and the therapeutic process require safety of accountability, openness and honesty regarding relapse.

Random testing for alcohol use or drug use in abstinence based treatment programmes often help in preventing a relapse. The knowledge that testing is possible may just be the last preventative measure when a persons obsession and craving are over riding normal rational thought.

Relapse is a feature of addiction to alcoholism, and therefore should  be planned for.

Our Aftercare programmes support relapse prevention and recovery from relapse.
